The new HawkEye HD in car camera DVR with GPS google mapping can be used for monitoring the road ahead, as an accident witness, for driver training, motorsports, taxi driver and passenger safety and for increasing your vehicles security when on the move and while parked. The system uses the latest H.264 video compression to give exceptional recording quality and longer recording times and you can adjust the resolution from 1920 x 1080 @30fps (full HD), 1280 x 720@30fps (HD) and 848 x 480@60fps (TV). The length before overwrite is determined by the size of the memory card with a 16gb card allowing up to 6 hours video at 1080P (full HD), up to 12 hours at 720P (HD) and 24 hours at 480P (TV). The system also protects files where the inertia sensor detects a large impact (harsh breaking or sudden shock etc.). In this instance the HawkEye HD will protect the previous, present and next video files automatically. The unit has a 120 degree wide angle lens for capturing as much of the road ahead as possible without distorting the image. Number plates are recognisable up to 20m whereas most 640 x 480 systems will only allow for up to 5m.
